Police in a Seattle suburb shot a man after responding to a call of a possibly suicidal person with a firearm near a park-and-ride lot.
A Renton police news release says at 11:28 a.m. Wednesday, Renton police responded to reports of a man with a firearm and officers fired at the man, The Seattle Times reported.
Medics treated the man at the scene and took him to a hospital, police said.
Harborview Medical Center spokeswoman Susan Gregg told the newspaper Wednesday afternoon the man was listed in critical condition in the intensive care unit.
Police said those involved in the shooting were placed on paid administrative leave. Police did not say how many officers fired at the man, what led up to them firing their weapon or weapons and whether the man fired at officers or pointed a firearm at them.
The names of the involved officers and man shot by them haven’t been released.
