Army Picks 10 Small Businesses for SBIR Phase I Contract Awards

The U.S. Army has awarded contracts to 10 small businesses under the first phase of the Small Business Innovation Research program to enable them to further develop their proposed platforms in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning and clean technology.

Each business will receive up to $250,000 to work on AI and ML tools for nitramine recrystallization and coating, non-hydrofluorocarbons-based fire extinguishing and non-refrigerant-based system for cabin cooling, the service branch said Thursday.

The Army Applied SBIR Program, which selected the awardees with the office of Army Prize Competitions, collaborated with research and development laboratories and program executive offices to support warfighters’ operational capabilities and improve partnerships with small businesses.

The awardees are:

  • Connecticut Analytical
  • Mantel Technologies
  • Oceanit Laboratories
  • Paragon Space Development
  • Physical Sciences
  • TDA Research
  • Triton Systems
  • Warburgweiss
